Info of Prithviraj Chauhan Fort

Prithviraj Chauhan Fort also known as Asigarh Fort is an old fort in Hansi that was built by thegreat King of the Chauhan dynasty, Prithviraj Chauhan. The fort is square shaped and is spread across an area of about 30 acres and has security posts in all the four corners. During theperiod of Firoz Shah Tughlaq keeping unseen security measures in mind, an underground tunnel was constructed that connected Hansito Hissar. Figures of Gods are carved on the gates of the fort and the walls are beautifully decorated with images of Goddesses, birds and animals.

Dargah Char Qutub

Dargah Char Qutub is a famous Muslim shrine, situated in the western part of Hansi. As the name suggests the name originates from the four shrines that were erected in the memory of the four Sufi saints of that time. The Dargah was built by theMughal Emperor Firoz Shah Tughlaq. The shrine has tombs ofthe Saints - Jamal-ud-din Hansvi (AD 1187 – AD 1261) Burhan-ud-din (AD 1261 – AD 1300), Qutubuddin Munawar (AD 1300-AD1303) and Nuruddin (AD1325 – AD 1397). It is consideredto be of great spiritual importance in the Muslim community.

HOW TO REACH HANSI CITY

By Air: The nearest airport is the Hissar airport which is about 22 kms from the city. From the airport taxis/cabs or buses (both private and HRTC operated) are easily available to reach the city. The Indira Gandhi International airport, Delhi is about 150 kms from Hansi. By Rail: Hansi has a railway station of its own; Hansi Railway Station (HNS) of the North-Western railways is a broad guage. From the station taxis/cabs or buses (both private and HRTC operated) are easily available to reach the city. By Road: It is very easy to reach Hansi by road. National Highway 10 and State Highway 17 and State Highway 12 pass by Hansi and connect it to all other major citiessuch as Bahadurgarh, Chatra, Tosham, Sultanpur, Hisar, Rohtak etc. Bus Route: The city has its own bus stop. Many private buses and HSRTC operated buses are available to reach the city from various destinations in and outside Haryana state.

Precautionary Measures:

The climate of Hansi is dry with scanty rainfall. Summer is very hot (upto 45degrees) and starts from April and goes on until June. July and August has monsoon and winter is very cold (upto 5 degrees) from Novemberto March. Some do’s and don’ts while visiting the city: *. Exchange money only through authorized banks or money changers and ensure to take a receipt. *. Taxis and auto-rickshaws in cities do not have meters. In such cases it is advisable to pre-decide the charge of travel to avoid any dispute upon reaching the place. Pre-paid taxis are better option for travelling from airport to city. *. Prohibited or restricted areas have to be visited only after seeking permission and fulfilling necessary formalities from the nearest Government of India Tourist Office. *. Most of the archeological monuments restrict photography. Tourists need to check with the nearest Tourist Office regarding the rules of photography. *. Footwear is not allowed inside Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Jain places of worship. A few shrines even prohibit leather articles to be carried along in the shrine. *. Tourists are requested not to wear anything that offends the culture of the shrine. *. Travel tickets to be purchased from an authorized travel agentonly. *.
